Babycakes, I am writing from Dubai, where I'll be staying for the next two months, assisting my brother, sister-in-law and nephew/godson while they adapt to the whirlwind of living abroad. I hope to be able to post sometimes while I am here, but I might be away for a few weeks while I get to know the place and help them settle in.

Babycakes, eu sinto muito pela falta de posts. Minhas férias começam hoje e, apesar de ter tido certeza de que seria possível postar nos dias que passaram, acabamos por tirar uma mini-pré-férias surpresa e visitamos a cidade de Alnwick e seu incrível castelo, em Northumberland!

Se você passar pelo norte da Inglaterra, super-recomendo visitar Alnwick! É tão pitoresca (e linda), com suas casas georgianas e muitas áreas verdes para explorar! Certamente indicaria para casais em lua-de-mel! O próprio castelo oferece cottages para férias e, para estadas mais curtas, o The White Swan é uma ótima opção.

O castelo é repleto de beleza e história: obras de Ticiano e Van Dyck (entre incontáveis outros pintores), a pintura “Três Cabeças” de Giorgione, tão querida de Lord Byron, pilhas (isso mesmo, PILHAS) de porcelana Meissen, ultra-intrincados tetos vitorianos e um número suficiente de manuscritos medievais capaz de fazer entusiastas de caligrafia deixarem marcas nos vidros (não que eu conheça alguém que faria uma coisa dessas... cof cof...) E não estou mencionando nem a metade do que há por lá; é verdadeiramente insano. A área verde da propriedade é tão linda, perfeita para piqueniques, e os jardins, que infelizmente não tivemos tempo de visitar desta vez, parecem mágicos pelo que pudemos ver pelos portões.

O Alnwick Castle serviu de locação para inúmeras produções, incluindo Elizabeth de Shekhar Kapur e alguns filmes da série Harry Potter. Vimos um pouquinho de uma peça com “Dumbledore” e “Hagrid” num dos jardins internos em que foram filmadas algumas cenas de Quadribol. Nem preciso dizer que as muitas crianças presentes foram à loucura!

A visita real que dá nome ao post não é nossa incursão a Alnwick, é claro, mas a de Gloriana Regina acima ao { ci }! Como disse, muitas cenas de Elizabeth foram filmadas no Alnwick Castle, inclusive a cena em que a jovem princesa Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) pratica dança no que seria o gramado de sua residência, Hatfield House, vestindo um de meus figurinos favoritos: um corpete em veludo verde, saia de seda, mangas em gaze de seda, mangas interiores em seda creme com flores bordadas e faixa num tom escuro de salmão. Esta combinação de cores tão inusitada estava pedindo uma composição. Abaixo você pode ver mais detalhes do vestido e um pouco de seu movimento.

Babycakes, I am very sorry for the lack of posting. Vacation time starts today and, although I was sure I was going to be able to post during the past few days, we went on a surprise mini-pre-vacation to Alnwick, Northumberland, and its incredible castle!

I soooo encourage you to visit Alnwick if you come by these prairies. It is such a picturesque (and gorgeous) place with its Georgian houses and lots of countryside to explore! I would certainly recommend it for honeymooners! The castle itself offers some holiday cottages and, for shorter periods, The White Swan is a great option.

The castle is filled with beauty and history: Titian and Van Dyck masterpieces (amongst gazillions of other painters), Lord Byron's beloved Giorgione painting, "Three Heads", stacks (I mean STACKS) of Meissen porcelain, ultra-intricate Victorian ceilings and enough medieval manuscripts to make calligraphy lovers leave marks on the glass (not that I know anyone who would do such a thing... ahem...) I am not even scratching the surface; it is madness really. The grounds are so beautiful, perfect for picnics, and the gardens, which regrettably we did not have time to visit this time, seem to be magical from what we could peek through the gates.

Alnwick Castle has served as a setting to uncountable productions, notably Shekar Kapur's Elizabeth and some Harry Potter films. We caught a glimpse of a play featuring “Dumbledore” and “Hagrid” at an enclosed lawn on which some Quidditch scenes were filmed. Needless to say the many kids present were going wild!

The royal visit that names this post is not our incursion to Alnwick, of course, but the one of Gloriana Regina above to { ci }! As I mentioned before, many scenes of Elizabeth were filmed at Alnwick Castle, including the one in which a young princess Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) practices dancing on what would be the lawns of her residence, Hatfield House, wearing one of my favourite costumes: a sage green velvet bodice, full silk skirt, silk gauze sleeves, cream silk undersleeves with embroidered flowers and flowing sash in a deep shade of salmon. Such an unusual colour combo was just asking for a composition. Below you can see more details of the dress and a bit of its movement.

Babycakes, o servidor do { casando ideias } passará por um upgrade que começa nesta tarde e tem previsão de término na tarde do dia 14, sexta-feira. Durante este período, algumas imagens do blog podem não aparecer. Mas não se desespere, porque existe um espaço onde o { casando ideias } fez uma nova casa virtual e que não vai a lugar nenhum nem hoje, nem amanhã! Um espaço completamente dedicado ao muito amado Loving!

A sessão de quarta-feira estava ficando muito grande e deixar tantos achados lindos de fora estava me deixando arrasada. Então, no início da semana passada, tive uma ideia tumblrtástica e o Loving residirá, agora, aqui!

K. foi, mais uma vez, o responsável por modificar completamente o layout a fim de atender às minhas necessidades e eu amei o resultado! Superfofo e funcional! Muito, muito obrigada, love!

Será fantástico partilhar pedacinhos de beleza com você em tempo real! Já existem algumas páginas de material publicado, que pode ser facilmente acessado usando a tag cloud, o espaço para buscas ou o arquivo. Babycakes, the { casando ideias } server will shortly be upgraded, beginning this evening and due to be complete by the evening of the 14th, Friday. During this time, some images on the blog may not appear. But fret not, for there is a space where { casando ideias } has made a new virtual home, which won't be going anywhere today or tomorrow! An entire space dedicated to the much loved Loving!

The Wednesday feature was getting way too big and it was breaking my heart having to leave so many gorgeous things out because of its size. So earlier last week, I had a tumblrtastic idea and Loving will now reside here!

K. was, again, responsible for completely altering the layout to fit my needs and I am in love with the result! Super-cute and functional! Thank you so very much, love!

It will be awesome to share snippets of beauty in real time! There are already some pages of material published that can easily be accessed using the tag cloud, search area or archive. Every Wednesday, I'll publish here at { casando ideias } some of my favourite snippets! Oh! Babycakes, estou tão feliz em poder te apresentar nosso novo layout! O K. finalmente teve um tempinho e supertrabalhou para fazer tudo minimalista-fofo como eu queria! Thank you so much, darling (the photo above is for you!) Estou apaixonada pelo resultado! Acho que só falta adicionar meus blogs favoritos e ele estará pronto!

Babycakes, I am so happy to introduce you to our new layout! K. finally had a little time and super worked to make everything minimalist-cute just like I wanted! Thank you so much, darling (the photo above is for you!) I am in love with the result! I guess all I need to do next is add my favourite blogs and it's ready!

Feliz por estar de volta! | Happy to be back!

Após animadíssimas férias, estou de volta ao blog, Babycakes! Muita saudade de todos vocês e das minhas leituras diárias! Estava tão ansiosa para voltar aos posts que nem pude esperar até segunda-feira! Escrevo agora aqui da Inglaterra e, no momento, estou me acostumando com meu novo escritório e com a possibilidade maravilhosa de poder trabalhar ao lado do meu noivo (tipo assim, literalmente ao lado!).

Apesar da mudança de país, o {casando ideias} super continua o mesmo, só que agora ele será bilíngue! Desde o início, o blog sempre teve um grande número de visitantes de outros países, muitos dos quais viraram amigos. Portanto, acho que já está na hora de tratá-los com mais carinho! A partir de hoje, procurarei sempre postar em português e inglês!

Além dessa novidade, sempre que puder vou sortear algumas de minhas publicações britânicas favoritas como Cosmopolitan Bride, Wedding Magazine UK e Brides UK, já que é até uma maldade passar todo dia pela banca, ver estas revistas – que por aí custam uma fortuna - por 4 ou 5 libras e não partilhar estas pechinchas cheias de conteúdo lindo-lindo-lindo com vocês!

E, comigo, chega também a mais recente edição do mais querido evento de moda noiva do mundo, o New York Bridal Market, na sua edição Primavera 2010. Hoje (23h por aqui e 19h no Rio), estarei de olho nos seis desfiles da mega Priscilla of Boston, que serão transmitidos pela brides.com. Isso mesmo! Seis desfiles, já que a marca lança uma nova coleção, a Jewel, que tem como objetivo oferecer vestidos elegantes, com silhuetas clássicas, a preços acessíveis (entre US$ 1650 e US$ 2950). Confira aqui ao lado três modelos da coleção criada pela jovem estilista da marca, Kelly Faetanini, e inspirada no balé.

Já estou ultra-mega-super ansiosa, aguardando as sempre incríveis criações de minhas favoritas Carolina Herrera e Monique Lhuillier. Estou superesperando a segunda coleção para noivas por Douglas Hannant (a primeira foi linda, lembra?), o desfile da Vineyard Collection, por Mark Brower, já que o sketch publicado no blog da brides me fez suspirar alto, e os doze vestidos inspirados no zodíaco criados por Junko Yoshioka! Ai, mas quem eu estou enganando, né! Estou louca para ver cada um dos desfiles! Super em breve estarei partilhando com você minhas impressões com relação à intensa beleza a qual seremos expostos!

After an incredibly entertaining vacation, I am back blogging, Babycakes! Missing you and my many daily feeds very much I must say! Soooo excited about getting back I couldn't even wait until Monday! At the moment I am writing from England, getting used to my new office and to the wonderful opportunity of being able to work by my fiancé's side!

Despite the change of country, {casando ideias} remains the same, aimed at providing ideas and beauty to its readers on a daily basis, only now it'll be done bilingually! From its very start the blog always had a great number of visitors from other countries, many of whom in fact became friends. Therefore I think it is about time I treat you with the same care I show my Brazilian readers! From today, I'll try my best to post both in Portuguese and in English.

Getting back to business, just like myself, is the most recent edition of the dearest bridal fashion event in the world, the New York Bridal Market, on its Spring 2010 edition. Today (11PM London time and 6PM EST), I'll be watching the six runway shows by mega Priscilla of Boston, which will be broadcast by brides.com. That's right! Six runway shows, since the group launches Jewel, a new collection aimed at providing elegant dresses, with classical silhouettes, at affordable prices (from US$ 1650 to US$ 2950). Check out these three dresses from the collection created by young designer Kelly Faetanini and inspired by ballet.

I am already on the edge of my seat, avidly waiting for the always breathtaking creations by my favourite designers, Carolina Herrera and Monique Lhuillier. Looking forward to seeing Douglas Hannant's creations for his second bridal collection (the first one was gorgeous, remember?), Mark Brower's Vineyard Collection, since the sketch published on brides' blog made me sigh rather loudly and Junko Yoshioka's twelve zodiac inspired dresses! Oh, who am I kidding?! I am dying to see each and every runway show! Pretty soon I'll be sharing my thoughts on all the loveliness we are soon to witness, Babycakes!
